OCCC Calls on Regulators to Reject Single-Pilot Operations Proposal

In a joint submission to ICAO, the OCCC explicitly detailed the severe safety risks associated with Reduced Crew Operations (RCO), arguing that automation cannot replace the critical redundancy of two qualified pilots on the flight deck.

The Oneworld Cockpit Crew Coalition has called on aviation regulators to reject proposals that would reduce the number of qualified pilots on the flight deck.

In its submission, the coalition stressed that two pilots provide essential decision-making capacity, mutual verification, and support during complex or unforeseen events. Those safeguards cannot be replaced by automation alone.

OCCC will continue to work with member associations and international partners to ensure that the future of commercial aviation preserves the highest standard of safety for passengers and crews.
